Street Fighter 6 is an incredible fighting game from a series that makes incredible fight games. When the game was announced, it had what I can only call a placeholder logo that no one liked. It was also accused of adapting an Adobe Stock image for its grand game reveal.
Not great at all. The internet backlash over a logo (I love the power of design) lit a fire under Capcom’s ass. The said “Hold my Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku.” and got to work on a brand new logo for their gaming juggernaut.
Street Fighter 6 Logo Design
Whoever took this project did WORK. A far constrast from the copy-paste effort of the original logo. The final Street Fighter 6 logo design is great. The incorporation of the roman numeral 6 is the icing on the cake for me. Sometimes designers are given a project and circumstances bless you with all the right tools to create something layered and beautiful. Look at this logo in motion (should auto start at 2:37):
The logo is bold and befitting the larger-than-life characters and situations the game offers. It stands out enough in the pantheon of Street Fighter logos but also fits perfectly in their lineage. I even took the time to see if the graffiti-style logotype of the old logos works with the new 6. It could, but the 6 mark is too bold and end sup competing with the “Street Fighter” title. The more straightforward logotype helps balance the weight of that great 6.
I purchased that game soley for the logo and no, I don’t think that’s a waste of money. Leave me alone, OK? Any logos you want reviewed? Drop me a line and let me know.
