Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update stole my ideas!

by | Nov 15, 2021 | Feature

Not really, but totally did. At the height of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ popularity in 2020, I found the product lacking in features. The longevity of the game was in question by fans since you couldn’t really interact with all the items within the game. Not to mention the villagers were all but empty husks with nary a thing to do. Sure there is the occasional “Naruto run” or you may catch them intently fishing (with no results) but that was really it. With a pretty facade and not much substance, fans resorted to creating their own fun within the confines of the Animal Crossing platform.

A major Animal Crossing: New Horizons update was rumored to add in all the Quality of Life (QoL) updates and interactions we so desperately wanted. But this was just a rumor. In the hours I had to myself to think, I started to concept my own version of Animal Crossing. I called it Fabled Beasties (not the best name but whatever) and in it, you would run a resort (you see where I am going with this), and there, your villagers would arrive on cruise ships and it was your job to entice them to stay, perhaps set up shop at the resort or permanently work on your island as a resident.

Well, that golden Word Doc with all these wonderful ideas just sat in my Google Drive (like all my other ideas) and I left it there. I don’t know how to make games, nor do I have the time or resources to do so. But sometimes you need to get these ideas out to make room for new ones.

Here comes the Animal Crossing: New Horizons update

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update

November 5th, 2021, that rumored Animal Crossing: New Horizons update finally dropped. A host of free features like cooking and group stretching (hmm) were added, along with a paid DLC called Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise. In it, your character gets a job.

At a resort.

Where you can hire villagers to work at the facilities you design.

Now, I am not suggesting that Nintendo hacked my Google Drive, stole my ideas, implemented them, and made a billion dollars. That would be preposterous… but that’s exactly what I am saying.

No, it isn’t. What I AM suggesting is this proves I am not blowing smoke up my own tush. I have some good ideas! Who wants some good ideas?! They can net you billions!

My original idea

So, since this has already been made, I don’t really need this doc anymore. You can see my original ramblings below, with a screencap of the original creation date so you know I am legit. Enjoy!
